In mid March – before the school buildings closed, our Sixth Form Critical and Contextual Studies students curated an exhibition in response to the artist Anselm Kiefer.
Kiefer creates dystopian, visceral, immersive paintings and so the students turned The Areta Space into an imagined landscape of uncertainty and timeless disorder.
Staff and students gathered for what could turn out to be the last cultural event of the school year wondering if this would be the last day of so many students school lives which they actually got to spend in school. It was poignant and ever so apt. The students really captured both the mood of Kiefer and by chance, the current zietgeist.
