Our talented UAL students recently put on an incredible musical theatre showcase in the Phoenix Theatre.
As part of their preparation for the event they worked on their vocal performance with opera singer Yvette Bonner.
They also had a visit from Sam Spiro who worked with each performer to bring character to their singing. Having access to expert masterclasses is a real bonus for our UAL students.
Music and Performing Arts teacher Nell told us about the performance: “Our UAL students have worked incredibly hard for this terms Musical Theatre showcase, and I am so proud of their achievements in such a short time. We are fortunate that the course allows us to shape a production like this, allowing students to have complete ownership from choosing and researching a wide range of musical theatre repertoire to develop into a full-scale production. In true KAS style we had a fabulous audience on the night who were delighted by the wonderful array of musicals on show. Laughter and tears were shed and once again this group of eight performers demonstrated what talent we have within the school.”
The UAL Level 3 Diploma in Performance and Production Arts is a unique course that gives students hands-on, practical performing experience across acting, song and dance. As well as musical theatre, students projects include clowning, comedy, and contemporary theatre. Click here to learn more about the course.
We’re so grateful to the teachers for all the hard work they put in to make events like this possible and a huge congratulations to all the performers who took part! The show included songs from Little Shop of Horrors, Chicago, Newsies, Miss Saigon, Made in Dagenham and so many more.
