19th March 24
This half term, KAS was excited to welcome 13 schools for the 9th annual French Drama Festival.
Each school prepared a short piece of French theatre to perform in front of a panel of judges, all hoping to win one of six prizes: Best Play, Best Lead Performance, Best Performance in a Supporting Role, Best Spoken French, Best Unique Theatrical Experience, and the Jury’s Special Award.
We are excited to say that our own Year 12 student, Xavier won the Best Performance in a Supporting Role! Here is what he said about the evening:
“It was a real privilege to be part of the francophone festival. I didn’t realise how big the event was, but I’m really glad that I took part. I really enjoyed working with my fellow cast members and although the production did involve having to sacrifice Friday lunch breaks, I think it’s fair to say that it was worth the effort. It was really stimulating to see other schools taking part in the competition and it definitely improved my level of French. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Pauline and the languages team for putting on such an amazing event.”
Another Year 12 KAS performer, Amelie, added: “It was really fantastic to be able to see all of these different schools and young people come together, to enjoy all the different aspects of French theatre. It also helped me to develop my French speaking and listening skills further.”
Well done to all who participated, and thank you to Pauline who organised it all; it was a fantastic evening!
