As the Autumn Term comes to an end for most students, a small group of Sixth Formers are packing their bags for a fascinating journey through the history of the Civil Rights movement in the American South.

The trip aims to connect the past to the present, educating students about real-world matters and engaging them in important social and political discussions. During the trip the group will be visiting museums, memorials and significant sites in Montgomery and Selma (Alabama), Atlanta (Georgia), Charlotte (North Carolina), Charlottesville (Virginia) and Washington D.C. They will enhance their learning by meeting with activists, educators and others involved in the civil rights community.

They will be documenting their trip throughout with students taking charge of daily blog posts which will reflect on the stories they’ve heard, what they’ve learnt and the day to day adventures of this fascinating school trip.
