This week some of our Sixth Former students visited Lauderdale House in Highgate to start a photography project with a group of homeless young adults we have met from the Pilion Trust’s Crashpad, an organisation that helps to shelter them in Winter months and get the young adults back on their feet.
We have been working closely with Lindsey Wylie (Alexandra Wylie Tower Foundation) to create an opportunity to break down barriers and preconceptions between young adults.
The photography project involved the students dressing up and using props to help create interesting pictures of how others perceive them and how they perceive themselves. They were guided in the process by Polly Hancock, a photographer from the Ham and High.
Thank you to everyone involved and especially to Katherine Ives at Lauderdale House for welcoming us and supplying the costumes and props for inspiration.
Our students have already visited the Crashpad and we hope to welcome our new colleagues to King Alfred School soon to continue the project.
